documentation

Computers can work on lots of things at a time so a report may run slower or faster depending on what else is going on. Generally wait time though is based on your web browser showing the data. In this article we will run some reports and show you speed comparisons so that you can understand your experience with UNI better.

All testing was run using the UNI many page which includes responsive design. We used the Really Great University site with 200,000 people. Tests were run primarily on a MacBook Pro 3.1 GHz Quad-Core Intel i7 with 16GB RAM. Edge is Windows only, so Edge measurements were run on a Lenovo Intel Celeron N4100 CPU @ 1.10GHz 4 Core with 4 GB RAM. The Windows machine wasn't a great comparison but use what you have, right? The iPhone used was an iPhone 11 Pro Max with 512GB of storage.

The server query time is generally pretty short. File size for CSV and XML files is a lot smaller than HTML files because there's less data. XML calculations mainly apply to automation but are included to show you the difference between XML and HTML. XML calculations for the Edge browser are not shown because it doesn't display XML like the other browsers.

Measurements that show time to display some {data} means that you will see some data on the screen. Measurements that show time to display all {data} means that you will see all data on the screen. What do you prefer? Do you want to see at least something quickly, or do you prefer to wait to see it all? Hopefully the measurements shown here will help you understand browsers better.

Also note that even though the iPhone was really fast at showing data, it's sometimes a little bit sluggish with large tables when you scroll up and down after the page loads.
